I was replacing a failed 2 year old DCDC (of a different brand) with this Victron Orion XS unit and was most impressed with the back up service and advice from Energy Eco and the ease of both connection and setup with the unit. I had a D+ wire existing from the old unit but decided to try it without and am super happy with the effortless balancing of starter and house battery charging that this very small footprint DCDC achieves. Great product and great service! Thanks Energy Eco!

This is a great unit. So much more versatile than the standard dcdc chargers on the market. Fully programable and smart enough to adjust output so the starter battery maintains charged. This is important when trolling and engine revs are low and the alternator isn’t generating many amps. Perfect for my boat set up.

I have two VICTRON Orion XS 12/12-50A DC-DC battery chargers in my system. The only feature missing is the ability for the charger to charge back to the starter battery when the house batteries are in float (while there is still plenty of solar coming in). I use one charger in each direction and use battery SOC in the Cerbo GX to trigger a relay hooked to the remote terminals on the secondary Orion to activate the chargeback (dump load) to the starter battery, to prevent a loop the primary Orion is deactivated using its remote terminals and a second relay.
